The WRRC 2024 Annual Conference, Water Solutions Through Partnerships, which took place last week, highlighted examples of collaborations that are successfully addressing Arizona’s water issues. The event was well-attended, with 246 in-person attendees, and 406 others joining virtually on Zoom.

During the second half of February, WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal participated in multiple meetings and conferences. On February 20, she had the pleasure of speaking about the WRRC with Australian visitors sponsored by the Aurora Education Foundation and hosted by the Native Nations Institute of the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy.

The University of Arizona’s Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) is extending the deadline for proposals for the USGS-funded 104(b) small research grants to March 27, 2024.

We at the WRRC were saddened to learn that our friend and colleague, Dr. James (Jim) Riley, emeritus professor in Environmental Sciences at the University of Arizona, passed away on December 7, 2023. Dr. Riley retired from the UArizona in 2013 following a long career focused on water in arid environments.

Each year, in accordance with the Water Resources Research Act, Section 104(g), the US Geological Survey — in cooperation with the National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) — issues a call for research proposals.

The City of Tucson’s Storm to Shade program has completed a green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) project at the El Rio Neighborhood Center.

Arizona Project WET (APW) is excited to welcome a couple of new team members, Jordan Christiansen and Rachael King, to its Phoenix office.

Tucson Clean and Beautiful is using its Green Stormwater Infrastructure Program to fight drought conditions at the local level in Tucson.
