The 2025 WRRC Summer Arroyo Internship

Apply now for this paid opportunity to learn and write about water resources!
The University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center is offering a paid summer internship to an enrolled U of A student to contribute to the creation of an issue of Arroyo, the annual WRRC publication that focuses on a critical Arizona water issue. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience researching and writing about water issues. Arroyo is recognized as a source of objective, accurate, and understandable information, which reaches a wide audience including policy makers and water professionals, as well as the interested public.
The 2026 Arroyo will draw on the WRRC’s 2025 Annual Conference, “Shared Borders, Shared Waters: Working Together in Times of Scarcity,” to be held on May 20-21 at the U of A student union. It will focus on borders and how people are working across them to address water-related issues. Under guidance from WRRC personnel, the intern will produce a draft Arroyo, using materials from the conference augmented with public information resources and interviews.
The applicant must be an enrolled student at the University of Arizona, be able to write clearly, objectively and effectively, and have good research and time management skills. Preferred (optional) capabilities include familiarity with Arizona water resources issues and Spanish language proficiency.
To apply, complete and submit the application form online along with a writing sample and a letter of recommendation.
Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday April 7, 2025.
