For the upcoming cycle, the WRRC expects to receive an increase in funding for small research grants from the US Geological Survey (USGS) through the federal Water Resources Research Act (WRRA) section 104(b) program. With this additional funding, the WRRC is pleased to consider proposals for up to $15,000 in federal funds.
WRRC Internship Application Period Ending
Monday, March 9, is the last day to apply for two internships offered by the WRRC. Both are open to current undergraduate and graduate students who will be enrolled at the U of A in the Fall 2026 semester.
WRRC Conference Invites Audience Participation and Community Voices
As part of the discussion on water use in industrial sectors, the WRRC 2026 Conference program will provide opportunities for attendees and community members to share their perspectives on these topics. Following the overview of the technology, mining, and energy sectors on Day 1, Session 2: Audience Reflections will provide in-person attendees the opportunity to voice their comments and questions.
Highlights from the NIWR Annual Meeting
At the end of February, WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal and Associate Director Jamie McEvoy traveled to Washington DC to attend the annual meeting of the National Institutes of Water Resources (NIWR). The meeting provided an opportunity for an update from the US Geological Survey (USGS) on the 104(b) and 104(g) grant programs, including the good news that funding for the 104(b) small research grants is expected to increase in the coming year.
