On Tuesday, March 14, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan announced that the agency had taken the first step to control toxic “forever chemicals” in drinking water.

This week in New York, the United Nations held their first UN Water Conference since 1977. The main outcomes of the conference will include a summary of its proceedings and the Water Action Agenda

Last March 21, Dr. Megdal attended the 2023 Water Diplomacy Symposium. The symposium was convened by the Women in Water Diplomacy Network in partnership with the Environmental Law Institute, the Stockholm International Water Institute, the International Joint Commission, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and the University of Arizona as a side event of the 2023 UN Water Conference in New York City.

World Water Day (WWD) is an international call to action to solve the global water and sanitation crisis, observed each year on March 22. Organized by the United Nations, WWD has been coordinated by UN-Water each year since 1993.

The WRRC joins the Arizona water community in mourning the loss of Marie Pearthree, who died on February 22, 2023. Marie Slezak Pearthree was born on December 17, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN. After traveling widely with her family to various State Department postings, she attended Oberlin College in Ohio, majoring in Geology, and later went on to earn an MS in Geosciences from UArizona and become a Professional Engineer (Civil).

The UN 2023 Water Conference, scheduled for March 22–24, 2023, will bring together over 6,500 people from across the globe. Only the second UN water conference (the first was held in 1977 in Argentina), the three-day event is co-hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Tajikistan.
