
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the WRRC kicked off its Spring 2025 Water Webinar series with an energizing webinar, Women and Water — Networking and Leading Across the Globe. The event spotlighted four water professionals and the work they are doing to promote opportunities for women to boost their careers and serve their communities. The panelists and the organizations they represented were Elizabeth A. Koch (Women in Water Diplomacy Network), Darnella Melancon (Indigenous Women’s Leadership Network), Emma Robbins (Planet Women), and Meghan Scott (Arizona Association of Women in Water and Agriculture).
Groundwater and Agriculture Symposium Features Speakers from Arizona
On January 22, 2025, university, agency, and industry water experts gathered in Albuquerque, NM, to discuss groundwater and agriculture. The University of California-Davis Agricultural Water Center hosted its 3rd Annual USDA/UC-Davis Project Symposium, Southwest Groundwater and Sustainable Agricultural Systems, which reported on research carried out within the multi-university project.
PCAST Editorial Published in Groundwater
On July 1, 2024, WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal submitted comments to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) in response to their call for input to help government decision-making. In her comments, she suggests looking for solutions to groundwater-related problems at a local level to meet the unique needs of the community and advocates for inclusion of all people impacted by water issues, such as Native Americans and other disadvantaged groups.
