The 6th World Water Forum is being held March 12 through 17, in Marseille, France, with the participation of more than 180 countries.  A major international event in water science, management and governance, the World Water Fora attract representation across the spectrum for high-level ministerial delegations to groups of citizens and indigenous people. More than 25,000 people are expected.

Sharon Megdal was a recipient of a UA at the Leading Edge award announced at UA Innovation Day, March 6. She was one of five UA faculty to be recognized for performing cutting-edge research and translating that research into real-world application.

The Nature Conservancy in Arizona and Arizona Project WET at the University of Arizona (Water Education for Teachers) are joining forces to bring a water education program to the Phoenix-metro area.

WRRC IS hosting a Conserve to Enhance webinar series starting February 21 at 1:00pm MST/12:00pm PST for the first webinar in the series, “Making the Link Between Water Efficiency and the Environment: Conserve to Enhance.”

On November 4th, U of A hosted its annual campus-wide Student Showcase. This event occurs annually during Homecoming weekend and provides more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students with an opportunity to communicate their research with interested community members, university students, and returning alumni.

Sharon Megdal and Pat Mulroy, from the Southern Nevada Water Authority, spoke on a panel about water management under scarcity conditions, during the sixth international WATEC exhibition on water technologies, renewable energy and environmental control, held from November 15-17 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The Joe Gelt Student Writing Competition for undergraduates in Arizona universities is now open for 2011. The Water Resources Research Center inaugurated this annual contest in Fall 2009 as a motivational tool to encourage better writing about water.

In 2010, the Regional Water Assessment Task Force held a series of four computer network-based ThinkTank sessions to gain input and guidance on priority regional water issues as well as management options from stakeholders throughout the Tucson Active Management Area.
