Where

Communicating with Congress Workshop—This workshop includes an overview of how the legislative branch of the U.S. government operates, and methods to be an effective communicator that attendees can take back to their districts or use on Capitol Hill.

Heads and Chairs Workshop—This one-day workshop provides an opportunity for heads and chairs of Earth and Space Science departments to discuss issues and strategies for building a strong department, and meet and network with other heads and chairs.

Geophysical Information for Teachers (GIFT) Workshop—This two-day workshop for current and pre-service middle and secondary school teachers, done in partnership with the National Earth Science Teachers Association (NESTA), includes presentations by leading research scientists coupled with take-it-to-the-classroom activities!

Congressional Science or Mass Media Fellow Luncheon—This event will provide attendees with information on AGU’s Congressional Science Fellowship program, which places highly qualified, accomplished scientists, engineers, and other professionals in the offices of a Member of Congress or on a committee for one year, and the Mass Media Fellowship program, which places a university student at a newspaper, magazine, broadcast or cable news department, or web site, for a ten-week summer internship.

Exploration Station— This is a family event designed to showcase AGU science and allow children and the public to interact directly with scientists and education specialists. Organized by various AGU Sections and Focus Groups, Exploration Station includes educational exhibits and hands-on activities. This event is open to the general public (of all ages) as well as meeting attendees, and includes the Public Lecture – a general lecture given by an AGU scientist.
