WRRC Water Webinar Features EPCOR Operations Across Arizona
On March 24, 2026, WRRC hosted EPCOR Water Resources Director Doug Dunham for a webinar on EPCOR’s operations across Arizona. As the largest private water utility in the state, EPCOR provides drinking water, industrial water, and wastewater services to hundreds of thousands of people. Dunham described EPCOR’s diverse water portfolio, which provides flexibility and resilience in the face of uncertain future surface water supplies. Recently, EPCOR received a designation of assured water supply for their West Valley system, which provides water to the communities of Sun City, Sun City West, and Agua Fria. This was the first designation ADWR awarded under the Alternative Path to Assured Water Supply, instituted in 2024. Dunham’s presentation explored many topics relevant to water resource management, including PFAS mitigation, water banking, infrastructure, collaborative partnerships, and the search for new water sources. Dunham also highlighted EPCOR’s dedication to water conservation, promoted through educational campaigns, smart metering, updated infrastructure, and WIFA partnerships. After the presentation, discussion continued with questions from the audience on a variety of topics pertaining to Arizona’s private water utilities.
