Tribal Leaders Featured at Upcoming WRRC Conference

On May 21, Day 2 of the WRRC 2025 Annual Conference will feature keynotes from three Tribal leaders: Chairman Verlon M. Jose of the Tohono O’odham Nation, Councilman Rolando Flores of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, and Governor Stephen Roe Lewis of the Gila River Indian Community. Each will speak about their knowledge and experiences sharing water resources across Tribal borders. Karen Cesare, Board Secretary with the Central Arizona Project, and Gwendena Lee-Gatewood, Co-Chair of the Indigenous Women’s Leadership Network, will introduce these distinguished speakers.
On Day 1 of the conference (May 20), another Tribal leader, Chairwoman Amelia Flores of the Colorado River Indian Tribal Council, will participate as a panelist during Session 2: Sharing the Colorado River, and later that day she will also be honored by way of special recognition at the Women’s Plaza of Honor for her contributions to the community and her role as a protector of the Colorado River.
To enjoy the many enriching conference talks and special dedications, to ensure access to other perks of in-person registration, including networking opportunities, and to avoid the late registration price increase, register before midnight on Friday, May 9. Late/onsite registration will be available throughout the conference; however, the option to purchase pre-paid parking will not be available once standard registration closes.
