The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) has approved a $3 million Regents’ Grant to establish the Arizona Hub for Agriculture Innovation—a new statewide effort focused on supporting the future of agriculture in Arizona’s arid climate. The initiative unites Arizona’s three public universities—Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona—with the Arizona Department of Agriculture to apply research findings aiming to create practical solutions for farmers and producers across the state.

Based in Yuma, Arizona, a region critical to year-round food production, the hub will coordinate research, industry partnerships, and state priorities to address issues such as water scarcity, soil health, and agricultural workforce needs. This effort will connect researchers, technologists, and producers to accelerate practical farm solutions. The grant was approved during a special board meeting in Yuma that highlighted the region’s national importance in agricultural innovation.
