Water is our most precious natural resource and is increasingly stressed by the demands our society places on it. Adequate water supplies are an essential element in human survival, ecosystem health, energy production, and economic sustainability.
The Sustain and Manage America's Resources for Tomorrow (WaterSMART) Program allows Bureau of Reclamation to work with States, Tribes, local governments, and non-governmental organizations to pursue a sustainable water supply for the Nation through administration of grants, scientific studies, technical assistance, and scientific expertise on the efficient use of water, integrating water and energy policies to support the sustainable use of all natural resources, and coordinating the water conservation activities of the various Interior offices. This presentation will focus on the grants offered by Reclamation through the WaterSMART Program.
Jessica Asbill-Case has worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for 15 years. She started her career in 2002 as a water quality specialist in Klamath Falls, Oregon and for the past 2 years has been working as a Water Resources Program Manager for the Phoenix Area Office. Her duties include managing the WaterSMART Grant Program, Water Conservation Filed Services Program, and Drought Program. She received her Bachelors in Environmental Science from Northwest College in Kirkland Washington in 2001 and her Master’s in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho in 2010
