Ralph Marra, Chief Hydrologist and Water Administrator, City of Tucson Water Department will give a seminar as a candidate for the position of Associate Director and Associate-Full Research Scientist at the WRRC.  This position is part of a university-wide environmental hiring initiative with partial funding support from the TRIF Water, Environmental and Energy Solutions initiative

Mr. Marra's presentation will focus on the general issues and uncertainties associated with water-resources planning and management for a large desert community. Even though Tucson offers some unique challenges to water managers and decision makers, the planning uncertainties are generally similar for most of the highly urbanized areas of the arid Southwest.  These uncertainties are raising important questions about what utilities need to know to ensure future supply reliability. These questions in turn point to the need for additional research.
