AWRA’s Fall 2024 IMPACT Pays Homage to Hydrophilanthropy
The American Water Resources Association (AWRA) dedicated its Fall 2024 issue of IMPACT magazine to hydrophilanthropy and the future of water in honor of the late Michael Campana, former AWRA president and IMPACT editor-in-chief. Campana devoted his life to the study and stewardship of water resources. Both Campana and David Kreamer, President of the International Association of Hydrogeologists, coined the term hydrophilanthropy to describe “altruistic concern for the water, sanitation, and related needs of humankind, as manifested by donations of work, money, or resources.”
This issue of IMPACT explores hydrophilanthropy practices and revisits previous articles Campana wrote on the topic. The articles express the author’s conviction that hydrophilanthropy can create lasting change and improve people’s overall quality of life, reflecting the human spirit and desire to do good things in the world.
We thank AWRA for graciously permitting us to offer free access to the full issue (link below). Be sure to check out the magazine’s awards section for recognition of WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal’s AWRA 2024 Fellow Award!
