WRRC Hiring Extension Associate to Lead Water RAPIDS Program

The WRRC is searching for an Associate in Extension to lead the Water RAPIDS (Water Research and Planning Innovations for Dryland Systems) program. The Associate will serve as a neutral third party for local, state, nonprofit, and federal partners to assist with the development of flexible and innovative approaches to water resources planning. They will perform research and stakeholder engagement activities to help identify solutions that strengthen local economies while supporting the nature-based resources that contribute to quality of life. The Associate will also communicate research and project results (e.g., written reports, oral presentations at conferences, and meetings) and pursue grant funding to support research and program work.

The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of technical and policy dimensions of water topics in Arizona (e.g., Colorado River issues, Central Arizona Project, Groundwater Management Act, rural water issues, conjunctive management of surface and groundwater, hydrology, watershed management, and/or water quality). They will be self-directed and have strong written and oral communication skills and must possess these minimum qualifications: 1) a bachelor’s degree in water resources or related field or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience, and 2) a minimum of five years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
