The WRRC is collaborating with the University of Arizona Poetry Center for the Dear Body of Water project by contributing images from our photo contest archive for use on project postcards. Dear Body of Water is a global poetry project that aims to “recontextualize our relationship with water… as a living entity worthy of our care, appreciation, and protection.” The project collects poetic messages addressed to bodies of water as fellow beings on this Earth for a collective poem to water. Dear Body of Water invites everyone to recognize a beloved river, lake, aquifer, or other body of water with words or artwork. An interactive map highlights the diverse locations from which poem submissions have been received. More plans will unfold as people participate to grow the flow of care for watersheds. To send your message to a favorite water body, pick up a postcard at the Poetry Center or participate online at Dear Body of Water – Poets for Science. Photographers, please note that you can submit photos to the WRRC 2024 Photo Contest through December 20.
