WRRC 2026 summer interns

The WRRC is pleased to introduce two new students who have joined us for summer internships.

Our new Water Outreach Summer Intern, Caroleine James, is a rising second-year student in the University of Arizona’s MFA writing program, where she teaches introductory writing courses and creative writing workshops for undergraduates. This summer, she will support ongoing WRRC outreach efforts and help improve some educational resources on the WRRC website. Prior to enrolling at the U of A, Caroleine was a fact-checker at In These Times magazine and Harper’s Magazine. She has also worked as a local reporter in Southeast Alaska, where she covered City Hall, environmental issues, and resource management. In her free time, she enjoys sketching, lifting weights, and over-caffeinating.

Lauren Yeager joins us as the Arroyo Summer Intern and will be assisting in the development of our 2027 Arroyo publication. She received her bachelor's degree in Environmental and Water Resource Economics from the University of Arizona in 2021 and has since returned to pursue her master's degree in Applied Economics and Policy Analysis. Lauren's studies are centered around using economic theory to inform decision-making and evaluate policy effectiveness. Her current research focuses on the validation of a measurement scale used to quantify levels of food insecurity during times of emergencies and natural disasters. Lauren is excited to bring her knowledge of resource scarcity and economics to this year's Arroyo. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, traveling, and reading.

Welcome to the WRRC, Caroleine and Lauren!
