WRRC Awarded $22,000 Freeport McMoRan Grant to Fund Water Education

Sept. 11, 2014

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Freeport McMoRan’s Community Investment Fund has awarded the WRRC a $22,000 grant to develop an Arizona Water 101 educational program in Green Valley/Sahuarita, Ariz. The grant will fund an expansion of the Green Valley/Sahuarita Arizona Water Festival put on by Arizona Project WET -- which reaches about 1,000 4th grade students -- and an adult community education series on the water related challenges and opportunities facing the community. The WRRC will supplement both of these outreach efforts with the development of educational video clips about Arizona’s water supply, demand, policies, challenges, and more.

The videos produced as a result of this Freeport grant will be specific to the Green Valley/Sahuarita area and part of the WRRC’s larger initiative to develop an online Clipstack video series for the entire state of Arizona in conjunction with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
