Water Podcast Centers Indigenous Women’s Voices
Guest Author: tylee nez
A new water podcast, Listening to the Ripples, is all about centering and honoring our relationship with water through the care and leadership of Indigenous matriarchs. Join host tylee nez (Diné/Hopi) to explore the communities, climate, hydrology, and history of the Colorado River Basin, featuring Indigenous women living in the basin and advocating for water sovereignty. During each podcast episode, we will be listening and learning from diverse guest speakers from across various professions and generations to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Basin — a multigenerational approach that centers Indigenous wisdom and stewardship. New episodes will be published monthly on SoundCloud and Apple Podcasts.
Check out the first episode for an in-depth explanation of our purpose, goals, and mission. Then view the second episode, Creating Waves in Water Management with Kirin Vicenti-Lacapa, to learn about her work advocating for water sovereignty and the Colorado River Compact, the status of Tribal water rights, drought, art, and youth leadership.
