U of A Ranked #3 Nationally in Water Resources
The University of Arizona has once again been recognized among the world's leading research institutions, earning a top ranking in water resources in the 2026–2027 US News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings. Among universities worldwide, the U of A ranked number three in the United States in water resources. This high rank reflects the university's strong research performance, reputation, publications, and citations in that field.
The distinction in water resources is part of a broader recognition of the university's research excellence. The U of A rose 13 spots in the overall global rankings to number 102 among 2,250 institutions from more than 100 countries, placing it within the top 5% of universities worldwide. The university also earned notable rankings in geosciences and meteorology and atmospheric sciences. The U of A's highest-ranked specialty was space science, where it placed number three globally and number one among US public universities. Overall, the U of A was ranked number 20 among public universities in the United States and was recognized as a top institution in 33 subject-specific rankings.
