U of A President Garimella Recognizes WRRC in Annual Report

President Garimella, Governor Hobbs, and Director Megdal at the WRRC 2025 Annual Conference
In his recent annual letter, “Celebrating Our First Year Together: U of A 2024-25,” U of A President Suresh Garimella highlighted the essential role of engagement across the university and spotlighted the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) as one example of how the university brings people together.
The president’s letter, published on September 3, 2025, mentioned the U of A’s recent recognition from ShanghaiRanking for having one of the world's top academic research programs in water resources, and drew attention to the university’s “strength in the area of water, soil, and desert agriculture, each of which will positively impact our state.”
President Garimella also stated in his letter, “We will foster engagement through the policy and technical advice our experts can provide, as with the convening influence of the Water Resources Research Center’s Annual Conference.” Each year, the WRRC conference draws researchers, policymakers, community leaders, and students to discuss urgent water concerns. By providing not only expertise and subject matter leadership but also a venue and opportunity for dialogue, the WRRC helps foster the partnerships, innovation, and problem-solving needed for a resilient water future.
