Mark Your Calendars for WRRC’s Fall 2025 Events

As the U of A welcomes new and returning students to campus later this month, we are gearing up for a robust fall webinar lineup. On September 4, 2025, Luke Cole, Director of the Santa Cruz River Program at the Sonoran Institute, will present the first in the Fall 2025 WRRC Water Webinar series, “The Santa Cruz: A River of Transition and Hope,” and will discuss how wastewater reuse, binational partnerships, and adaptive management are helping shape a more resilient Santa Cruz River system in a time of increasing climate and water uncertainty. Later in the month, on September 16, Jennifer Wendel, Attorney, Arizona Adjudications Project, University of Arizona, will present a water webinar that discusses stream adjudications in Arizona, which are judicial proceedings to determine the extent and priority of water rights within an entire river system. A little further out, on October 22, representatives from Arizona Water Company will present a webinar titled “Sustainable Water Resources Strategy.” Be sure to register for these three webinars and stay tuned for more info on these and other events coming this fall!
Additionally, the fall semester brings WRRC’s much-anticipated Photo Contest, which is now open for submissions! The 2025 contest theme is A World of Water, and entries should showcase the many ways water transforms our world and how humanity interacts with water. Photo submissions should offer a glimpse into the ways water connects to people, nature, the built environment, and agriculture in Arizona and beyond. The photos can be taken from any location, so long as the images relate to water, and the location is indicated for each image. The winning photos will be announced at the 2026 Chocolate Fest in February (date TBD). Photo Contest images are used in WRRC publications and other outreach materials. Submit your photos here!
