ADWR’s Interactive Dashboard Displays AMA Water Use Projections

In connection with its proposed Assured Water Supply Ag-to-Urban program, the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has developed an online dashboard offering visualizations of data to illustrate the program’s projected impacts. The interactive dashboard is intended to assist users in understanding the potential outcomes for groundwater supplies in various situations and represents the latest effort by ADWR to give the public greater access to its substantial database on Arizona’s underground water supplies.
The Ag-to-Urban program, still in development, would allow water providers in the Phoenix and Pinal active management areas (AMAs) to cut back on groundwater use with the support of existing agricultural groundwater rights and ensure there are sufficient supplies for residential development. Participation in the program would be voluntary for water suppliers.
