The Water Roots series is a collaboration between the WRRC and Sky Island Alliance to highlight the work of our partners to secure water for natural areas in southeast Arizona. Learn more about the series here.
The Water Roots series is on the move with Watershed Management Group (WMG)! Join us for a special sunset walking tour along the Rillito Loop path that will highlight river restoration opportunities and actions, and the local flora and fauna including Mexican free-tail bat viewing from the North Campbell Street Bridge. Don’t forget your walking shoes - we will begin at St Phillip’s Plaza for a 1-mile loop on the Rillito River Park Trail. We will venture downstream to the Mountain Ave Loop bridge to compare current conditions with WMG’s vision and plan for a restored Rillito river. WMG in partnership with local artist Dennis Caldwell, has developed five illustrations of Tucson’s rivers restored with regular flows, which will be shared at this event. More discussion and mingling will follow at Arizona Wine Collaborative, including an opportunity to take action by joining WMG’s River Run Network.
Starting Location: St. Phillip’s Plaza, 4280 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85718 – meet at southwest corner near the entrance to the river walk
Ending Location: Happy Hour at Arizona Wine Collective
