Green City, Clean Waters, the Philadelphia Water Department’s innovative plan to improve watershed health and reduce combined sewer overflows, includes major investment in decentralized green stormwater infrastructure, in combination with investments in stream restoration and wet weather plant upgrades. Redesigning the City’s stormwater infrastructure involves balancing innovation and standardization, ensuring public and private collaboration, reconfiguring an already overcrowded public realm, and managing living landscape infrastructure.
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s Urban Watershed Assessment will characterize the City’s eight sub-watersheds, identify needs and propose alternatives that include a mix of grey and green solutions, to be implemented through their 20-year Sewer System Improvement Program.
Lisa will present on the Green City, Clean Waters’ system wide approach to green infrastructure, the challenges and successes from her experience planning, designing, building and maintaining these systems in Philadelphia, as well as her recent experience working on San Francisco‘s Sewer System Improvement Program.
