The 18th Water Conservation and Xeriscape Conference will be Thursday and Friday February 28 and March 1, 2013 at the Marriot Pyramid Hotel in Albuquerque New Mexico. "Communications across Disciplines, Building Relationships" is the theme and this event is in collaboration with Arid LID exploring the interrelated fields of landscape, engineering, architecture, agriculture and ecology in dealing with the impacts of increasingly erratic rainfall and new climate extremes. Xeriscape Expo
The Xeriscape Expo follows on Saturday and Sunday March 2nd and 3rd, 2013 in the Creative Arts Building at NM Expo/State Fairgrounds in Albuquerque. This is a great opportunity for homeowners wanting to improve their gardens using less water, to attend two days of talks and demonstrations on growing beautiful fruitful gardens in more sustainable ways. Exhibitors showcase the latest in water conservation information and products, local food, plants and know-how. The Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water

In the course of reporting about water to write The Big Thirst, Fishman, a contributing writer at Fast Company magazine, stood at the bottom of a half-million-gallon sewage tank, sampled water directly from the springs in San Pellegrino, Italy, and Poland Spring, Maine, and carried water on his head for 3 km with a group of Indian villagers.
