WRRC 2024 Annual Conference - CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Submission deadline for abstracts has been extended to November 28, 2023

The University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center invites abstracts for conference presentations and posters describing projects that implement solutions to Arizona’s water resources challenges. The 2024 Annual Conference, Implementing Water Solutions Through Partnerships, will showcase examples of ongoing or recently completed projects that emphasize cooperation, coordination, and collaboration. Abstracts should describe projects or efforts that involve partnerships between two or more separate entities and/or include a multi-stakeholder process. They may vary in scope, but must show relevance to our state and region. Please submit your abstract under one of the following four categories:

1. Water and Nature

These partnerships link water solutions with natural processes and include benefits for the natural environment.

Examples: watershed management to enhance ecosystem services, including forest management; riparian system enhancement; conservation agreements, stormwater capture, or recharge to maintain streamflow; Tribal resource stewardship; citizen science monitoring efforts.

2. Infrastructure and Augmentation

These partnerships build capacity for construction projects to bring in new water or deliver existing resources where needed.

Examples: desalination; water recycling, storage, and interconnects; weather modification; Tribal water infrastructure; agricultural irrigation efficiency.

3. Water, Energy,
and Food

These partnerships relate to utilizing or improving relations among water, energy, and food systems.

Examples: water distribution canals & energy generation, solar panel farms & agricultural production, efficient water & energy use through local food production.

4. Other Solutions

These partnerships do not fall neatly into any of the three previous categories.

Examples: exchange agreements that do not involve new infrastructure; frameworks for joint decision-making with implementation commitments; contracts and leases, including Tribal water leasing agreements; research into project feasibility and financing.

Abstracts of up to 300 words are invited for in-person oral presentations and posters. Submit your proposal via the link below no later than 11:59 PM MST, November 28, 2023. Notifications of abstract review outcomes will be sent by January 12, 2024.
