Upcoming WRRC Events to Celebrate World Water Day and More
The week of March 23 is full of events at the WRRC, starting off with our World Water Day webinar on Monday, “Water for All People – Governance, Security, and Access.” WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal will be joined by Dr. Laura Imburgia of the UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme, Dr. Róisín Burke of Utrecht University, Dr. Heather Tanana of University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and Professor Corinne Schuster-Wallace of the Global Institute for Water Security to discuss the themes of World Water Day 2026.
On Tuesday, March 24, WRRC is hosting EPCOR Water Resources Director Doug Dunham for a webinar titled “Delivering Reliable Water for Arizona Communities – EPCOR’s Water Resources Plan.” This webinar will provide an overview of EPCOR’s presence in Arizona and the communities the utility serves across the state.
Next, on Wednesday, March 25, Dr. Gregory Cajete (Santa Clara Pueblo) from the University of New Mexico is presenting on “Creating Mindful Science: Through Indigenous Eyes,” for the Spring 2026 Native Voices in STEM (NVIS) seminar series. This event will be hosted in person at the U of A campus and on Zoom.
Finally, on Thursday, March 26, the U of A Department of Environmental Sciences is hosting their ENViSion 2026 student research symposium, Shaping Science Through Leadership: Policy Pathways for Environmental Innovation. WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal will be the keynote speaker for this event, which will showcase more than 50 research projects by graduate and undergraduate students through poster and oral presentations.
